Issued in a limited edition of 878, it is available in steel, in 18-carat yellow, white or pink gold, or in platinum, as well as in a jewelry version. The shape of the case is easily recognizable, with a circular watch glass held in place by a “cushion”- shaped satin-brushed bezel. It is nonetheless not as thick as the Ref. 888 that inspired it. The crown is entirely recessed into the caseband, contributing to its smooth, harmonious lines. The dial carries a “sunburst” motif that is picked up on the case-back. The hour and minute hands are designed and produced exclusively for BEDAT&Co. At just 6.5 mm thick, the Ref. 878 is driven by an ETA7001 movement that used to be known as the “Peseux” caliber. This mechanical hand-wound movement, renowned for its extreme reliability, is endowed with a 42-hour power reserve. It features small seconds at 6 o’clock and its water resistance is tested to 5 bars.
